I’ve just started to dip my toe into the Gear Hound world. I do think it’s important that gear is built to last though. My kids are tough on their pants and shoes, and thus I place a priority on items that can withstand the abuse. If it doesn’t hold up like I want it to I keep looking for something better. I like to find something I love and just keep buying that item.

  • Warren’s Carrier: Stretchy Wrap outgrew this at 21 lbs and 8 months
  • Warren’s Carrier: Onya baby Nexstep
  • Graham’s Carrier: Kinderpack Preschool with Standard Straps (We still use this, however, I try to carry Graham as little as possible. Our goal for Graham is for him to walk as much as he is able. We encourage him and have shortened a lot of our hikes in order to facilitate this)

Hydration & Food

  • Deuter fanny pack loaded with snacks, chapstick, a first aid kit, and a knife
  • 2.0L water backpack (We’ve mostly abandoned this and just use the bladder. We need to get a new mouthpiece that doesn’t leak)
  • Graham has an Osprey Moki 1.5L hydration backpack that we usually rely on for water and snack transportation

Trail Gear & Rainsuits

  • Warren: Tuffo Muddy Buddy 18mo (we have the 2T for him to grow into)
  • Warren: MyMayu Wanderer
  • Graham: Oakiwear Trail Suit 6/7 (we use the adjustable cuffs to secure/ cinch it down to a 4T size.)
  • Me: Patagonia Women’s Torrentshell Rain Jacket
